De-Nero, a listed stallion with
the Scottish Sports Horse, is really an International
Sport horse. His dam Coulanze Z is
an Olden burger mare bred at the Belgian Zangersheide stud. She
was put in foal to the KWPN Dutch Stallion Negro
and then exported to Great Britain. Coulanze Z
was then bought at the Malvern sales by a Scottish vendor Mrs
Elaine McFarlane, who lives in Perthshire where De-Nero
was born.
De-Neros sire Negro has
experienced nothing but success throughout his career. After
winning his stallion show competitions as a 5 and 6 year old,
he was made stallion of the year in 2001 in Holland, won Prix
St.Georges at 7 and is now established at Grand Prix. He has
already produced numerous exceptionally talented and successful
horses, one of them Carl Hesters exciting young ride Tyson,
who all share his powerfully athletic paces and exceptionally
good attitude.
Negros sire is the illustrious Olympic
Ferro, who is today considered one of the worlds greatest
dressage sires, having won an Olympic silver medal in Sydney
himself.
On De-Neros mother side are found some of
the most interesting bloodlines in the international show-jumping
breeding. Dam Coulanze Z is by the particularly
well-bred Continue, one of Paul Schockemohles
young stallions .His sire is the famous Contender
amongst whose notable offspring Montender stands
out after his recent success at the Olympic Show-jumping event
in Athens (4rth individual, team-gold) Contenders
dams sire is Tin Rocco, a half thoroughbred,
whom Franke Sloothaak successfully competed internationally.
Further noteworthy names in Coulanze Zs pedigree
are the unforgettable Holsteiner Ramiro, the
Schockemohle stallion Gepard and the influential
thoroughbred lines of Der Loewe and Vollkorn.
Apart from his own athletic abilities two things make De-Nero
so particularly interesting: this exciting combination of some
of the worlds most important show-jumping and dressage bloodlines;
but his fascinating character along with exceptional trainability
has to be pre-requisite quality, highly sought after in todays
modern Scottish Sports Horse.
