04-Oct-07 - Tranquil Jubilee sold at the end of May and partnered with her very experienced Show Home producers The Hood family. In one outing Alistair Hood had qualified her for the large hack class at the HOYS. The results where remarkable Jubs to her friends; became the reserve champion in her class, up against the best of British large hacks at the tender age of 5, out of 26 qualified horses . What an achievement for Jubilee in only 4 months , congratulations to the Hoods and a massive hug to Jubs!!!
A wee bit of history on Jubilee's life in Scotland.
Jubilee grew up in our small yard in Scotland from 5 months to nearly 5 years old, the first time I set eyes on her at 10 weeks, I knew she was going to come us. Ron and Leslie Aitkin breed Jubilee, in the Buchan area of Aberdeenshire. Her father is the New Zealand Thoroughbred Tranquil Bay, a tough and well mannered stallion; now well into his 20's and has produced for both the show ring and sport with great success. We had connections and knowledge of her lovely mother and a lot of emotional ties were there at the time of purchase, she was a very late foal, born in mid-June 2002 .Our queen was celebrating her 50th year hence the name Jubilee, and what a queen bee she is now!. Ron the breeder used to go by our place and watch the two yearlings run on the hill with their commando jackets on right up to their necks and report back to Leslie, on how she was progressing. Leslie quite often popped into to see her too. As a 3 year old she was lightly broken at the back end of the summer 2005, Stefani our friend from Germany a master bereiter was staying with us for 5 weeks. Jubs loved all the attention and enjoyed the learning, she was always willing to go forward and was very light on the aids. Then she was turned away for the winter and brought back in late spring of her 4rth year , she picked up where she left off, like she was ridden the day before, a very clever little horse. Jubilee's first competition was in November last year doing some dressage a few miles from home and she just enjoyed the whole experience. Unfortunately, after I got knocked over by a youngster in a freak accident, Jubs then had no rider so a forced break in training happened just as she was starting her competition career. Until the decision was finally made that this was not what Jubs would have wanted, we knew her too well. Then after numerous discussion at home she was sent off to the Craigie's for jump training and selling in late April 2007 ; and as stipulated we would only sell to the right home. I always kept Leslie and Ron in the loop to where I wanted her to go and never a moment passed that I didn't think about her , this was her first time away from home, and Jubs just relished in the excitement. Having had a very solid foundation for the past 5 years this made Jubilee's transition much easier from growing up in a loving home to flourishing in the show ring in the hands of an experienced producer. We have been indebted to Ann Hood for regular updates, progress reports and fantastic photos.
However, we do miss her charismatic personality in the yard , there was always gossip around when Jubs was involved, she did absolutely love De-Nero our young stallion and used to bat her eyes at him every time she passed his stall. She's on the catwalk of fame now and loving every minute of the attention. Good luck to both Jubilee and Alistair and may their successful partnership continue for many years to come.
28-Sep-07 - Our two foals got graded on our premises along with some others. Both foals did very well in their grading's. Chablis got a first premium and China Doll got a second. Not withstanding this my husband managed to capture exquisite photos of China on the move , and they will be posted on the sales pages shortly.
22-Aug-07 - We went to visit Stefanie and De-Nero in Germany for a week , what a fabulous athlete De-Nero is now. He has become the most happy contented stallion we could ever wish for.
06-Jul-2007 - De-Nero was out competing for the second time this year and managed to gain over 72% in a young horse class, and got placed. What an achievement! We are both very pleased to hear he is progressing with the right attitude to work, gaining valuable ring craft experience for the future. Stefanie his trainer is delighted with his attitude to work, she says you couldn't ask for a more cooperative and ride able stallion.
15-Jun-2007 - De-Nero ventured out for his first competition in over a year. He has been training in Germany with Stefani Hoenmann for the last 9-10 months, where he has for the first time in his career some consistency of work. This is quite apparent when you see the changes in his appearance, he is much stronger and even more athletic . Pictures to follow shortly.
13-June-2007 - Wonderful news for Tranquil Jubilee, she has been sold to Alistair Hood a top show horse producer from Norfolk. This career move for Jubilee will be the making of her. Good luck to the Hood family and Jubilee. Many thanks to the Craigie family for all their effort and support.
10-June-2007 - Update on Jubilee's progress , she has now learned to jump a good course of jumps with considerable style, her technique over a fence is commendable. Both daughters Lucy and Anna enjoy riding her and she has a lovely presence and ability to please, this goes hand in hand with showing.
21-May-2007 - Jubilee headed North to Craigie's Equestrian for some jump training and education in going out and whilst there; they would try and find a suitable home to initiate a career for this very attractive gray mare with a huge personality. We would very much aim for a showing home that's where her major talent lies.
26-April-2007 - Poliana now 6 days late managed to produce a gorgeous leggy filly foal in the early hours of the morning, with the assistance of 2 vets and my husband. She foaled standing up. However, after the birth I think Poly was stage struck but didn't she do well what a fabulous eye-catching filly.
21-April-2007 - Suleika's filly foal arrived 2 hours early she was due the 22-April . Late on Saturday evening , Suleika did her usual and made it look easy both mum and daughter are doing well .As we watched and photographed the foal I was speaking to my mum and said she was like a china doll, so the name was decided for us.

10-Sep-2006 - The Scottish Sport Horse held a mare
and foal grading at Craigmancie Stud. We decide to grade Bea
this year and she was awarded a first premium, we were so thrilled
with her. Her Mum Sulieka did us proud, she certainly has given
her a very good start.
7-Sep-2006 - We arrived home today, a bit shell shocked
and tired, but all is well at home and no one missed us other
than the cat.
5-Sep-2006 - Sad to say good bye to both De-Nero and
Stefs. We sailed back from Cuxhaven in Germany to Immingham near
Hull, this journey was delayed by 10 hours having only one engine
this meant we were onboard for 30 hours.
4-Sep-2006 - De-Nero is now well settled into his new
surroundings. He has all the training facilities available to
work during the winter, 2 indoor schools, 2 outdoor menages,
and next door permanent xcountry fences in a large park and miles
off road hacking .
30-Aug-2006 - Docked at Rotterdam 8am - one hour ahead
and first to leave the ferry. We used satellite navigation to
get us out of Rotterdam and we made good time through Holland
which had very good roads. Arrived in Vechta ahead of schedule
1.30pm unloaded De-Nero showed him his new home and stall, he
just lay down and fell asleep . We went back later to give him
stretch and a run about, he was a little de-hydrated and we gave
him additional water buckets which he drank none stop.
29-Aug-2006 - Onboard the ferry at Hull by 8.50pm last
to load , sailed out at 9pm. Only one person was allowed back
down to check him at midnight. He was doing really well by this
time,I gave him as much room as possible and took off his sweat
rug it was very hot on the transport deck.
28-Aug-2006 - De-Nero completed his stud duties at
Balcormo later than expected. We stayed the night at Balcormo
Stud and continued our journey to the Yorkshire Riding Centre
for an overnight stay before the ferry leaves Hull on the 29th.
